We chose the name ‘Russells’ in honour of the Russell Family of Doonagore; whose quiet but rigorous dedication to traditional Irish music has helped spread the art-form around the world and put Doolin on the map. Probably the best-known members of the family, brothers Micho, Packie and Gussie, learned their craft through their mother and other local musicians, refining it and driving the art forward in their own unique ways.
The Russells inspired us because they grounded their art in the local. Their music showcases the beauty and uniqueness of Doolin. But despite the local focus, the spirit of their music has a universal and timeless appeal. At Russells Seafood Bar, Fish Shop and Coffee Shop we too want to showcase the local, while maintaining a timeless appeal.
We strive to offer each guest a truly authentic experience. Russell’s offers expertly crafted and locally sourced gourmet meals, created artfully by our Award-Winning Head Chef Viv Kelly, enjoyed in an authentic and rustic setting. Our bar caters to all tastes, from our curated selection of Irish Whiskeys to our array of expertly crafted cocktails by in-house mixologists. We pride ourselves on our amazing staff who ensure each visit to Russell’s is a truly memorable experience for the guest.
We have live Traditional Irish music every night during the summer, and a bespoke Traditional Irish playlist for when musicians are not playing. We are privileged to have such a talented group of local Doolin and Clare musicians who play in our bar.
